Hymns

Troparion of Ascension Thursday (Tone 4)

You ascended in glory, O Christ our God, and gladdened Your disciples by the promise of the Holy Spirit. Through Your blessing, they were confirmed in their belief that You are the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world!

Kontakion of Ascension Thursday (Tone 6)

After fulfilling for us Your Plan of Redemption and joining the things of earth with those of Heaven, You gloriously ascended, O Christ our God, without abandoning us, but remained with us for ever, and proclaimed to those who love You: Behold I am with You, no one has power against You.

Troparion of Isidore (Tone 4)

Your martyr(s), O Lord, received the crown of immortality from You, O our God, on account of his struggle. Armed with Your strength, he has vanquished his persecutors, and crushed the powerless arrogance of demons. Through his supplications, O Christ God, save our souls.

Troparion of Isidore (Tone 4)

You renounced the army here below to become a soldier of the King of the Ages, to boldly proclaim the message of Christ our God. Having fought the good fight to a triumphant end, you were divinely glorified as a witness to the Savior. Intercede with Him, O blessed martyr Isidore, to grant great mercy to those who praise your name.

Synaxarion of Isidore

On May 14, we commemorate the Holy Martyr Isidore of Chios. It is the hope of receiving your crown, O Isidore, that goads you on to death by a sword. On the fourteenth, as the bronze cuts down, it grants it to you. By his holy prayers, O our God, take pity on us and save us. Amen.

Kontakion of Isidore (Tone 4)

Glorious Isidore, through your assiduous prayers to God, you became a guide for the world and a martyr holy in spirit. Wherefore, we praise you today.

Ambon Prayer
O Master, as we worship Your might, lift up our thoughts towards heaven, and raise up our minds from earthly cares to Yourself, for You have lifted up our lowly nature in Yourself and enthroned it in the highest with the Father.
Make us worthy here on earth as in heaven to be concerned with seeking that which is on high, where You are seated at the right hand of God.
We await Your glorious and awesome coming, which You have made known through the angels to the Apostles, the witnesses of your ascension into heaven.
Number us with those who will be taken up into the clouds to meet You when You come to judge the world in righteousness, that with them we may be filled with joy forever, by the good will and love for mankind of Your eternal Father, with whom You are blessed and glorified, together with Your all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and always and forever and ever.
